Stelling’s 1st broadcasting position was as a journalist on Middlesbrough FC on Radio Tees within the late 1970s. He was a sports presenter on LBC Radio Sportswatch in London in the early 1980s before moving to BBC Radio 2 Sport on the weekend sports show of 2, covering the Los Angeles and Seoul Olympics.
