Matthew Reese Mire, 31years old, is a “Person of Interest” believed to be involved in a deadly crime spree on Saturday morning in the state of Louisiana across several parishes.
Shooting Incidents
Reese also left several injured and the death of a state trooper dead in his wake.
The first shooting happened around midnight on Saturday, Oct. 9, in Livingston Parish. Deputies were dispatched to a mobile home park located on LA 444 near French Settlement.
The first victims were a male and a female who were left with gunshot wounds.
“The male was struck in the arm. The female suffered injuries to her arm & leg. They were both transported for treatment where they are both expected to recover,” said Sheriff Jason Ard.
Matthew Mire allegedly then fled in a stolen blue 2013 Chevrolet Silverado.
At around 3 am deputies responded to another shooting in Prairieville. Deputies dispatched also found a male and female with gunshot wounds.
They were both taken to a hospital in Baton Rouge with life-threatening injuries. Pamela Adair, 37, died at the hospital and her partner Joseph Schexnayder, 42, remains in critical condition.
Matthew Mire Police Shooting
After those two incidents, it’s believed Mire crossed paths with Louisiana State Police.
According to a spokesman with Louisiana State Police, a trooper attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a blue Chevrolet Silverado on LA 42 east of LA 73 (Jefferson Hwy) in East Baton Rouge Parish shortly after 5 a.m
The spokesman added the driver refused to stop, shot at the trooper, the trooper returned fire, and the pursuit continued on LA 73 to Hoo Shoo Too Road, where gunfire was exchanged.
The suspect fled the scene on Hoo Shoo Too Road at the Tiger Bend Bridge, according to LSP.
Matthew Mire Charges
The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office said Mire will be charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, illegal use of weapons, home invasion, and illegal possession of stolen things up to $25,000.
