Madhulika Rawat was best known for being the wife of General Bipin Laxman Singh Rawat. Bipin was an Indian military officer who was also a four-star general of the Indian Army.

He served as the first Chief of Defence Staff of the Indian Armed Forces from January 2020 until his death. Bipin passed away in a helicopter crash on December 8, 2021, together with his wife, Madhulika.

Madhulika was also known as Madhulika Raje Singh was born in Shahdol, Madhya Pradesh, India.

Madhulika Rawat Cause of Death

Both Madhulika and her husband, Bipin died in the reported helicopter crash. They were however not alone in the chopper.

The couple was accompanied by some other senior army personnel who were aboard an Indian Air Force Mil Mi-17 helicopter which crashed in Coonoor, Tamil Nadu.

The chopper was on its way from the Sulur Air Force Base to the Defence Services Staff College (DSSC), Wellington. Bipin Rawat was to deliver a lecture.

The death of Bipin Rawat, his wife and also the deaths of 11 others was later confirmed by the Indian Air Force.  The whole nation joins the Rawat family in grieving the loss of their beloved ones.

Madhulika Rawat Early Life and Career

Madhulika was the daughter of Kunwar Mrighendra Singh. Singh was the Riyasatdar of Shadol district’s Sohagpur Riyasat.

According to Hindustan Times, he was also an Indian National Congress MLA from the district in 1967 and 1972.

Madhulika’s family currently lives in the ancestral residence ‘Rajabagh’ in the Shahdol district headquarters.

Madhulika schooled at Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya in Gwalior. She went on to further her studies and graduated in psychology from Delhi University.

First and foremost, Madhulika was an Indian social worker. In addition, she was also the president of the Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA).

AWWA  is an Indian non-profit organisation that works for the spouse, children or any dependents of Indian Army personnel. The association was founded in 1966.

Its main agenda is to rehabilitate war widows and battle casualties. The association also organises vocational training and empowers its beneficiaries.

Madhulika was also directly involved with other NGOs and welfare associations such as Veer Naris. The Veer Naris helps widows of military personnel, differently-abled children and also cancer patients.
