Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty is a Trinidad and Tobago-born-American rapper, actress, model, and singer. She was born on 8th December 1982(38 years old) in Saint James, Port of Spain, Trinidad, and Tobago.

As a small child, Minaj and lived with her grandmother in Trinidad. Her mother, moved to New York to attend Monroe College, and she brought the family to NY when Minaj was 5 years old.

Nicki Minaj first started making music in 2004, where she signed with the group Full Force for 6 months. Her first mixtape was released in 2007, and her second came in 2008.

In 2009, Lil Wayne discovered Minaj, and he offered her a contract with his company Young Money Entertainment and in 2010, Minaj released the album ‘Pink Friday’, her debut album, which sold over 375,000 copies in the first week.

Controversies

In July 2018, Minaj received backlash for her choice to collaborate with 6ix9ine for their collaborative single “Fefe” as the controversial rapper had pleaded guilty to one felony count after posting explicit videos of sexual performance with a 13-year-old child in 2015.
