Zion Brown, 18, has been identified as a suspect sought in last week’s Chicago train robbery. Brown has also been identified as a Loyola University student.
The suspect allegedly robbed the Metra Electric train conductor because he said he needed the money to “buy a snack before his next university lecture.”
In a police statement released, the police claim Zion dumped his weapon in nearby garbage and later walked on foot.
As his mom was walking home later that night, she recognized a masked Brown in security photos on the news. She in turn went on a step further to drive her son to go and surrender to the police.

Cook County Judge, Maryam Ahmad ordered Brown be held without bail while also rejecting the defense attorney’s argument. The attorney said as a hungry college kid, she herself would have never thought to rob someone.
Brown’s next court appearance is scheduled for March 4.
