Danny Ongais was an American racing driver and retired US army. Born on 21st May 1942 in Kahului, Hawaii, United States, and died on Died: 26 February 2022  nicknamed the flying Hawaiian.

After leaving the US Army, The flying Hawaiin pursued a career in professional motor racing becoming the first state 1960 motorcycle champion.

That success would see Ongais migrate from bikes to cars, kickstarting a phenomenal career that lasted more than five decades.

Danny Ongais died from congestive heart failure in Anaheim Hills, California, on February 26, 2022, at the age of 79.
