America’s Got Talent contestant Skilyr Hicks has died at the age of 23.
Skilyr Hicks has passed away at the young age of 23 years old. She was found dead following her past battle with substance abuse and also mental health.
According to TMZ, the young singer-songwriter passed away on Monday(6th December 2021). Skilyr’s mom, Jodi Hicks told the outlet that her daughter, “was found lifeless in the home of a friend.”
The mom also said that she did not know the owner of the residence where her daughter was found dead. The house in question is located in Liberty City, South Carolina.
Skilyr’s mom also told the outlet that her daughter used her talent and gift in music to help those in need. She went on to add that Skilyr was loved deeply by her friends, family, and most of all, her four siblings.
Skilyr Hicks Cause of Death
The exact circumstances surrounding the cause of Skilyr’s death are still unknown to the family and more so to her beloved fans.

Although Jodi told TMZ that “her daughter battled with mental health issues, including depression and substance abuse”, there still remains the question of what actually killed her daughter.
Jodi hicks also added, ” My daughter will live on through her music”.
Skilyr Hicks America’s Got Talent
In 2013, Skilyr auditioned for America’s Got Talent at just 14-year-old where she impressed the judges at the time. She went on to progress to the next round.
She impressed, Mel B, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel, and Howard Stern with her performance of an original song.
Skilyr shared an emotional backstory that caught the attention of the fans. In addition to showcasing her vocals and also amazing guitar-playing skills, Skilyr became an all-around fun-to-watch contestant.
Skilyr wrote her first song soon after her father passed away. In a way that became her starting point in the music industry.
Even though she was in such a low place, Hicks did not let that point in life determine the rest of her life, she however changed the narrative into a positive situation and a mellow to live in.
Skilyr gained more love from her fans when she revealed that she taught herself how to play the guitar, write and sing songs.
