Sasha Johnson, a 27-year old woman, is a prominent Black Lives Matter Activist who is currently based in the United Kingdom.

Sasha is being treated in an intensive care unit after being shot in the early hours of Sunday morning “following numerous death threats as a result of her activism,” the Taking The Initiative Party (TTIP) said on Instagram.

“It is with great sadness that we inform you that our own Sasha Johnson has been brutally attacked and sustained a gunshot wound to her head. She is currently in intensive care and in critical condition. The attack happened in the early hours of this morning, following numerous death threats as a result of her activism”, the post read.

Police Report on Sasha Johnson’s Shooting

London’s Metropolitan Police issued an appeal on Sunday for information after a 27-year-old woman(Sasha) was found with gunshot wounds in the Southwark neighborhood shortly before 3 a.m. on Sunday, the 23rd May 2021.

The statement added that there was nothing to suggest that the shooting was a targeted attack or that the woman had received any credible threats against her prior to the shooting, but cautioned that the investigation was in the early stages.

Police did not confirm the woman’s identity at the time but it is said she was taken to a south London hospital where she remains in critical condition.

The police statement also said detectives from the department’s Specialist Crime Command (Trident) have been conducting urgent inquiries at the scene and “are pursuing a number of priority lines of inquiry.” It is believed the shooting occurred in the vicinity of a house where a party was taking place, police said.

Detective Chief Inspector Jimi Tele said:

 “This was a shocking incident that has left a young woman with very serious injuries. Our thoughts are with her family who is being provided with support at this terribly difficult time.”A dedicated team of detectives is working tirelessly to identify the person or persons responsible for this shooting. They are making good progress but they need the public’s help.” “Finally, I recognize that this incident will have shocked those in the local community and further afield. I would ask people to avoid speculating as to the motive or the circumstances behind it.”
