Who is Geert Jan van Oldenborgh? International Researcher dies aged 59.

Geert Jan Van Oldenborgh was born in 1962(59years old)in Netherlands. He was a renowned International Researcher affiliated with the  Koninklijk Nederlands Meteorologisch Instituut.

His main study area was climate change.

Last month, Geert Jan van was named as one of the hundred most influential people in 2021, by Times magazine.

Van Oldenborgh was originally a physicist. He worked at the KNMI since 1996 and has been a part-time professor at Oxford University since 2019.

In April 2020, Oldenborgh received a royal honor and the European Technology Achievement Award.

He received the prestigious prize for the development of the KNMI Climate Explorer, a website that makes large amounts of climate statistics accessible.

Through the KNMI Climate Explorer,  Geert Van would determine the role of climate change shortly after major weather disasters.

Sadly, Geert Van passed away after a long battle with Cancer.
