Elly Mattiuzzo is the 18-year-old skating champion who died in an accident in San Marino. She lost her life in life in a car accident on Saturday night.

Elly was a young-promising figure skating star. Both Mattiuzzo and her boyfriend, Daniele Volanti passed away in the horror crash. The couple is said to have died ‘instantly’ whilst a 19-year-old VW driver was injured.

The 19-year old’s life is currently not at risk.

Elly had moved to San Marino after being born in Milan to live with her father. Both Mattiuzzo and Volanti attended the Parini classical high school. Elly then continued her studies in Riccione where she was a Volta-Fellini art student.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport the couple was driving a Fiat 500. They were on the road from Borgo Maggiore towards Castello di Murata at around 9:30 pm.

Elly Mattiuzzo had already taken part in the Junior World Championships in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. Her great passion for ice skating was already reaping success. Elly was among the skaters who competed for the Hot Shivers competition.
