Dr Sugata Das, was a prominent Indian-American cardiologist, who died in a plane crash in the US state of California.
He worked as an Interventional Cardiologist at Yuma Regional Medical Center (YRMC) in Arizona.
“We are deeply sad to hear news of a plane owned by local cardiologist Sugata Das, which crashed near Santee (California),” YRMC’s Chief Medical Officer Bharat Magu said in a statement.
Sugata also owned the twin-engine Cessna C340 aircraft that went down and led to his death. However, there’s no confirmation whether Das was the pilot at the time of the crash that took place on Monday.
The plane took off from Yuma, Arizona but the pilot reportedly had an emergency and made a crash landing.
At least two people died in the horror crash. The plane crashed on ‘multiple houses’ in southern California.
Facebook users have expressed their condolences to Das’ family as news of his death emerged.
One said: “Rest in Peace. You will be missed.”

United Parcel Service of America Inc. confirmed later that day that, that was one of its employees who was killed during the plane crash.
“We are heartbroken by the loss of our employee, and extend our deepest condolences to his family and friends. We also send our condolences for the other individuals who are involved in this incident, and their families and friends.” A statement released read.
