Domingo Germán Polanco is a Dominican Baseball player for the New York Yankees of the Major League Baseball.
Domingo was born on August 4, 1992San Pedro de Macorís, Dominican Republic.
There is no information about Domingo’s childhood and family. Because of his ethnicity, Domingo didn’t enter MLB through the Draft, that’s why it is unknown from which school or college he graduated.
Domingo started his professional baseball career in 200 where the Florida Marlins (current Miami Marlins) acquired Germán as an international free agent. Domingo represented the Miami Marlins in the game featuring top minor-league prospects and played as a run-up to MLB’s All-Star Game on July 15.
On December 19, 2014, the Marlins traded Germán, Nathan Eovaldi, and Garrett Jones to the New York Yankees for Martín Prado and David Phelps. Even after transferring, Domingo made his MLB debut in 2017.
On September 19, 2019, Germán was placed on administrative leave by MLB, pending an investigation of suspected domestic violence. On September 25, it was confirmed that he would not be eligible to participate in any baseball action for the remainder of 2019, including the postseason. He had the best win-loss percentage of MLB pitchers in 2019, at .818.
On January 2, 2020, Germán was suspended for the first 63 games of 2020, making his punishment for 81 games including time served in 2019 due to violating the league’s personal conduct policy, the harshest suspension levied to a player on domestic violence allegations, but not formally charged. He is also eligible to return on the 2020 postseason, as most of his suspension served thus far was during the 2019 postseason. The suspension also includes spring training games to note, since his return to the team, he has been terrific.
FAMILY LIFE: WIFE AND CHILDREN
It’s unknown exactly if Domingo has a wife, but he is romantically involved with Mara Vega. They have two kids born in 2018, a first-born daughter and a son.
Domingo and fellow Yankees past and present feted retiring teammate CC Sabathia in a swanky affair at Hudson Yards venue, The Shed.
Domingo Germán Polanco is valued at around $720,000 even though he earns a comfortable $577,500.
