Cynthia is the daughter of John Scurtis and Evangeline Scurtis. She is the granddaughter of one of Florida’s most prominent and influential Greek Orthodox priests, the Rev. Demosthenes Mekras.
Alex Rodriguez proposed on Cynthia’s 30th birthday in 2002. Despite her family’s initial reservations about her marriage, the pair were married at Cynthia’s grandfather’s mansion in Texas in 2002. The marriage didn’t last long because as of 2008, the couple was officially divorced.
