Debby Matney was an RTI Coach at Porter Elementary School.
She is also a former teacher at Inez Elementary. She studied at Morehead State University as per her Facebook account. In addition, Debby is a Sheldon Clark High School alumni.
Debby’s Husband, Jim is among 12 high school football coaches in Kentucky’s history to reach, 300 victories and also to have led Johnson Central to five straight Class 4A Championship games from 2015-2019.
Coach Jim Matney Sickness and Cause of Death
Jim Matney passed away on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at the age of 62 years. This was after a month-long battle with Covid-19.
Jim celebrated his birthday on August 17 with his wife and consequently, Debby Matney posted about it on her Facebook account.
“Happy Birthday to my sweet husband!! Your family sure loves you, Jim Matney!!!!”, Debby wrote.
Jim is survived by two sons, Dalton and Carson Matney, and also, his wife, Debby Matney.
Family friends have poured in tributes to remember Jim. One of the people is, Rexel Nee Jackson II, posted on his Facebook page.
These are just some of the phases of Coach Jim Matney that I knew. From a very young man I looked up to him as he played on some great teams at Belfry with my big brother. He was also a coach of mine later at Belfry as well as myBiology teacher, a lifelong friend, Christian leader, outstanding coach, fierce competitor who hated to lose no matter how young or old the competition was. Coach Matney made a huge impact on my life from a young age as a team mate of my brother. He was a great man, great team mate, & Once a Pirate Always a Pirate……RIP Coach Matney
