Elizabeth Ann Theresa Lynn, better known as Betty Lynn, was born on August 29, 1926, in Kansas City, Missouri, U.S. She passed away on 16 October 2021 in her home in Mount Airy, North Carolina, U.S.
Betty was an American actress and also model back in the day. She was best known for her role as Thelma Lou, Deputy Barney Fife’s girlfriend, on The Andy Griffith Show.
Lynn’s mother, Elizabeth Ann Lynn, was “an accomplished mezzo-soprano”. Elizabeth taught Betty how to sing. She also enrolled her in the Kansas City Conservatory of Music when she was only five years old.
Betty Lynn had little personal contact with her father, who once reportedly threatened to shoot her mother in the abdomen when she was pregnant. Her grandfather, George Andrew Lynn, a railroad engineer, took on the role of father as she grew up.
