Minor League Catcher passes away at the young age of 20. Andres Melendez Cause of Death is revealed.
Andres Melendez was born on 21 May 2001, Barquisimeto, Venezuela. The young minor league catcher has sadly passed away at the young age of 20.
Andres passed away on 16 December 2021, Miami, Florida, United States. He was playing for the Cleveland Guardians.
The team released a statement commemorating Meléndez as a “positive, respectful and thoughtful” man. The team also gave no additional details about his death.
The statement said, “Meléndez is remembered by his teammates and friends as a positive, respectful and also a thoughtful young man with a beautiful smile who had a profound impact on others.”

“He will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, loved ones, teammates, and also those who knew him.”
Andres began his professional career in 2018 with the Milwaukee Brewers. He was however traded to Cleveland in a 2019 deal. With the Guardians, he began making an impact that was noticeable by everyone around him.
The Brewers sent their condolences in a statement and said: “We join the Cleveland Guardians in mourning the untimely loss of Andrés Meléndez, a former player in the Brewers organization, and offer the friends, family, and teammates of Andrés our heartfelt condolences during this difficult time.”
Andres’ former teammate, Josh Wolf said that Meléndez brought a positive energy with him everywhere he went.
