Anastasios Tsakos is a 43-year-old and a 14-year-old veteran who worked with the New York Police Department (NYPD). He has recently been killed by a drunk driver in the French Meadows, Queens on Tuesday the 27, April 2021.
The accident took place while Tsakos was diverting traffic from a previous fatal crash that took place in Long Island Expressway in Queens.
He was struck by a passing vehicle and an alleged drunk driver has been arrested in this case.
Tsakos was struck by a 2013 Volkswagen in the eastbound lanes of the LIE near Francis Lewis Boulevard. He was taken to New York-Presbyterian Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The driver, Jessica Beauvais, 32, from Hempstead was allegedly intoxicated and was driving with a suspended license swerved to avoid other cars and hit Tsakos as he stood next to his marked vehicle.
Tsakos leaves behind his wife and two kids.
