 Jim Fregosi Jr. has passed away unexpectedly at the age of 57 years old. He was a Kansas City Royals special assistant to the general manager and also a  longtime scout.

Jim was the son of former Major League Manager, the late Jim Fregosi. He is survived by his wife Mary and also their three children: Jimmy, Katelyn, and Joey.

When the news of Fregosi Jr. passing away hit the media channels, the entire Royals’ community was absolutely shocked and saddened.

A statement was released immediately by the Kansas City Royals through its president of football operations, Dayton Moore.

The statement read, “Our entire organization is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Jim Fregosi Jr. Jimmy was an amazing baseball man who had a passion and love for this game.

His desire to compete, his strong conviction, and also his keen eye for players separated him as an evaluator. But above all, he was our friend, and we shared all the ups and downs and great things this game has to offer. We will continue to cherish the great memories we have together.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Mary, Jimmy, Katelyn, and Joey.”

Jim passed away at the age of 57 from a heart attack. The entire Royals’ thoughts and prayers are with the entire Fregosi Family during this difficult time.

Jim Fregosi Jr. Career

Before becoming a Major League Scout in 2008, Jim spent seven years as an amateur scouting coordinator for the Phillies.

He played five Minor League seasons with the Cardinals before ending his Minor League career with the Expos.

Jim Fregosi Jr. joined the Phillies in 1992 but left temporarily to work with the Rockets(1999-2000). He went on to join the Royals in 2011 as a Special Assistant to the General Manager.
