Bruno Fernandes, formerly a Sporting Lisbon player, has been urging United to sign, Sporting Lisbon’s left-back, Nuno Mendes, who has been in fine form this season.
The Red Devils could use Alex Telles in a swap deal to bring the youngster to Old Trafford when the transfer window reopens.
18-year-old Mendes has been highly impressive this season for Lisbon in the Primeira Liga.
Luke Shaw has impressed again this season with the first-choice, with him being Player of the Month in the Manchester United Camp.
Alex Telles has been proven to be a talented back-up as well as Brandon Williams, who sits on almost all the games. If the move were to be a success, Telles could be returning to Portugal rather sooner than later.
The 18-year-old Mendes has become an in-demand target for some of Europe’s elite with his performances this season in Primeira Liga.
